NEWS RELEASE 27th June 2009

Cornwall Solo Grass Track Club host a double header weekend of race action at the Truthan Farm, St Erme venue over the weekend (4th & 5th July).

On Sunday the club host a benefit meeting for popular sidecar passenger Phil Stoneman who has recently undergone surgery to remove part of a leg which was badly damaged in an accident at the 2008 British Masters Championship whilst racing with Helston’s Richard Thomas.

A large entry of 120 competitors have entered a meeting which promises to provide plenty of entertainment for race fans with a number of top national riders joining the regular sidecar field including Steve Smith, Rob Wilson and John Hiscock. The 1000cc Left Hand Sidecars and 500cc Sidecars will also be making rare appearances in Cornwall. A competitive line up of Solo riders and youth racing completes the program.

Track action starts with practice at 10.45 and the first race at 12.30. During the evening an auction of some 40 items will take place to raise funds for Phil.

On Saturday a competitive entry will contest 43 race program with the club’s Grand Slam Trophies up for grabs. Joining the usual line up of up to 350cc and 500cc solos, youth and 1000cc Right Hand sidecars will be joined by the 1000cc Left Hand sidecars making a rare appearance in Cornwall.

The venue will be signposted from the A30 Carland Cross Roundabout. Admission is £7 for Adults, £4 for Senior Citizens and Children Under 14 Free, a discounted entry is available for both days.

Refreshments, Beer Tent and Toilets will be available on site during the day.
