This is not an unannounced Speedway Meeting.
This is the biggest sporting event in the South West: SKITTLES
A motley crew of Exeter Falcons fans raced down the A38 at top speed to get to the Westward Inn at Lee Mill for the skittles. That does, of course, exclude one car that stopped off at Haldon Racecourse to check for any signs of tractors, earth movers, diggers, cranes, men with spades, stakes in the ground, yellow and black tape, or footsteps in the grass. There is NONE OF THIS. We will check again at the weekend.
Having arrived at the Westward Inn the first thing to do was to buy a pint. After that we tracked down the skittle alley and the Plymouth supporters ready for the keenly fought contest that last year resulted in the Exeter Falcons supporters holding the trophy.
THE TROPHY WAS ON DISPLAY FOR ALL TO ADMIRE.
Having found the skittle alley and the Plymouth Supporters and had a quick chat with the friendly well known faces (as well as some new ones) the next thing to do was to buy another pint.
Our hosts on the evening laid on a very pleasant spread of sandwiches and chips. They went down very well amongst those of us who had not eaten. We will return next year for the same event.
Now for the scores on the doors. There was one mistake on the board but that has been corrected after consultation with the PLYMOUTH OFFICIAL SCORER. They are certainly taking it seriously this year.
PLYMOUTH DEVILS
72 Chris
49 Tim
49 Dave
66 Gordon
65 Ashley
53 George
43 John
53 Elliot
---------------
450 TOTAL

EXETER FALCONS
50 Peter
54 Paul
51 Nigel
56 Tom
41 Dawn
42 Chris
47 Mark
55 Rob
---------------

So you see at a 54 point difference we were one player short.
There will be a return at home in a month or two.
If you are any good at skittles make yourself known to the Supporters Club in general or Winkey in particular.
