I apologise for the error on the Falcons points scorers in my earlier post !!
Somehow, I gave one of Lee Payne's bonus points to Bradley Wilson-Dean.

Exeter Falcons 2015 pulled off a resounding victory over Wolverhampton Wolf Cubs on 28th August, despite having only three riders available for the mini-meeting. The 28 - 8 success saw Nick Phillips and Stevie Anderson score 11 points each, and Saul Bulley added a creditable 6 points. Well done lads ! This will almost certainly be the last of these mini-meetings this season. Congratulations to all the lads who wore the Falcons race bib with pride and went unbeaten at the Oak Tree Arena all season.

For those of you who were not there last Friday night ( and why not ?!! ) here are the scorers for both teams in Falcons narrow defeat by the Rebels :-
SOMERSET REBELS SELECT
1. Paul Starke 11 2. Matt Bates 5 + 2 3. James Shanes 6 4. Bradley Wilson-Dean 9 + 1 5. James Wright 6 6. Chris Widman 5 7. Adam Sheppard 4
46
EXETER FALCONS 2015
1. Paco Castagna 6 + 2 2. Luke Chessell 6 + 1 3. Ben Morley 7 + 1 4. Danny Ayres 6 5. Josh Bates 14 6. Tom Bacon 3 7. Tyler Govier 1
43
There was some excellent racing throughout, particularly Heat 6 when Josh pipped Starkey by a hair's breadth on the line after a titanic battle over all four laps, and Heat 14, in which Danny Ayres and young Wilson-Dean battled, passed and repassed, before Bradley nipped back inside Danny off the last bend to win it. If it were not for Danny Ayres having the misfortune to shed not one but two chains in successive outings, I am sure the Falcons would have been victorious. Also, young Tyler came to grief twice when in scoring positions, his meagre tally of just a single point hardly reflecting the effort he put in.
In the Oak Tree after the meeting, Josh Bates received the ESSC £50 award for Falcons' Man of the Match, and I was £50 lighter after handing over the Most Entertaining Falcon prize to Danny Ayres, not just for his Heat 14 heroics but also for the passion he showed in the face of adversity.
An excellent evening all round. Our thanks go to Somerset Speedway not just for this meeting, but for allowing us to promote Exeter Speedway at the OTA in second-half mini-meetings during the season.
