Exeter Falcons aim to return to city after finding a site for a new speedway track

Exeter Falcons have announced they have found a site to build a track and return to the city.
At a public meeting on Tuesday night, team managers Robert Doran and Alan Spencer revealed that, pending planning permission, they have agreed a deal with a land owner.
The news is a huge boost to the Falcons, who participated in their first full 15-heat meet in a decade last month, and Spencer is delighted with how the meeting went.
He revealed: "There was around about 100 people there. We were really apprehensive over how many would be there but it was a great turnout.
"We put forward what we've been doing and found out how people felt the main meeting against Cradley Heathens went last month.
"Everyone was happy and said they wanted more, so we put it to them that we have found some land and we've spoken with the landowner on two or three occasions.
"There have been a few issues but we think we've those sorted, which is as far as we've got at the moment.
"We've got to go to planning now, which is being looked into currently."
Funding is now the biggest obstacle for the Falcons, although Spencer says that the idea of an Exeter City-style trust is something that is being investigated.
Spencer said: "Obviously Robert Doran and I cannot afford to put all the money in but we've asked the people that were there if they would be interested in putting £100 each in to get the track up and running.
"There was a big show of hands and a lot of people have given us their contact details, so, if it does go ahead, people are happy to put money in.
"We're going to speak to the founders of the Exeter City Trust. It's something we're going to look into as there have been some suggestions for a trust and we think it's a good idea.
"If we can get some sort of trust, with supporters putting money in, we'd be quite confident of reaching a target to be able to put a track in place.
He added: "Things are moving on quicker than expected but, moving into the planning, this is where I expect things to slow down a little, as I expect there'll be other issues that crop up.
"We've just got to try and get through those issues and get to the other side."
The Falcons will participate in a second half meeting at Somerset's Oak Tree Arena on Friday night, against a Development Select side.
With riders like Tyler Govier away with their National League side, Falcons will field Saul Bulley, Stevie Andersen, Nick Phillips and Adam Sheppard, who will captain the side.
