A couple of falls limited the scoring for Richard Andrews to 5 points from 5 rides in Devils comfortable 53 - 37 home win over Isle of Wight Warriors in the NL this evening. He did win one heat though. It was again R/R for Henry Atkins, but he will be back for the next Devils outing.
For the Island, Connor Coles scored 9 points, which I gather included four second place finishes. A decent effort from him. Tyler Govier is withholding his services, and I assume is therefore under a riding ban of at least a fortnight at present. No further news on that situation as yet.

The young Falcons slipped to a home defeat on Friday evening, going down 14 - 21 to Weymouth.
The teams showed a better balance talent-wise this time, but despite spirited efforts by the Falcons, Weymouth proved just too strong.
Scorers for Exeter:-
Stevie Anderson 6 Craig Nethercott 6 Andrew Palmer 1 Mick Sutton 1
Mattie Bates was unavailable for Eastbourne on Saturday evening, the Eagles using R/R for him, and going on to win 50 - 40 at Stoke in the NL.

Another rather 'hairy' meeting for Matt Bates as his Eastbourne team win 52 - 38 at Buxton on Sunday 25th June.
A F/Ex in his first race, followed by another fall, saw him pointless at that stage. He did manage two third places later, one garnering a bonus point as well, and so ended on just 2 + 1.
Maybe, if he does drop to a reserve berth when the next averages come out, he will re-establish some consistency in his riding. We shall see.

Well I never - the Devils win 47 -43 at Birmingham in the first leg of their NLKO Cup encounter !! 6 + 2 for the continually impressive Henry Atkins, and 4 for Richard Andrews. The arrival of Roynon does seem to have given Devils a real lift, and with Compton starting to show what he can do as well, who knows where they can go from here.

The Devils duly progressed to the Semi-Final of the NLKO Cup tonight, winning 49 - 41 against Birmingham, for an aggregate victory by 96 to 84.
Henry Atkins shone with an impressive 11 + 1 from five rides, including two heat wins and a paid win in heat 15, when he held off Brummies top scorer, Jack Parkinson-Blackburn. Atkins and JPB are two bright teenage prospects for British Speedway.
Richard Andrews scored 5 + 2, from three rides, as he retired with bike problems in his other outing.

Matt Bates' topsy-turvy recent form continued at Mildenhall today, where Eastbourne conceded a 5-1 in heat 15 and thus an away win.
His five rides went F/Ex, 2', F/Ex, 0, 3 for 5+1 total.
Connor Coles guested at Number 1 for the Fen Tigers, and he spoiled a good day with a F/Ex in his fourth outing. Two wins and a paid second from the other three gave him a 7+1 total.
Devils new reserve, William O'Keefe, was also a guest for Mildenhall and he did well, scoring 7+2 from five rides out of the Number 7 berth.

Defeat for the Devils away at Stoke Potters this evening. They went down 37 -53.
Richard Andrews scored 5 and Henry Atkins 4 + 1.
An uncharacteristic night for Boxall with only 8 points.
