The Falcons took on Reading Racers in the SDL at Arlington on Saturday night 5th August, after the Eagles had beaten Birmingham 50 - 39 in the NL. Falcons went down 12 - 24 over the six heats. Scorers were:- Stevie Anderson 6 Craig Nethercott 2 Jamie Sealey 2 Andrew Palmer 2 Mattie Bates notched up 11 + 2 for the Eagles over seven rides from reserve, including winning heat 2. Great effort Matt ! His extra rides came about after Mark Baseby fell in his third ride. He has a suspected broken forearm. Matt also took one ride in place of his fellow reserve.

Another fruitful meeting for Matt Bates, this time at Lakeside Hammers on 5th August. Another seven rides netted him 13 + 3, including two heat wins. So that's paid 29 in two meetings. Not half bad mate !!

A drubbing for Devils at Belle Vue Colts tonight. Henry Atkins scored 4 + 1 ( including one heat win ) and Richard Andrews just 2 + 2. Devils went down 33 - 57.
Connor Coles managed 7 as the IOW Warriors lost even more heavily, 29 - 61 away against Cradley.
The Heathens No. 7, Tyler Govier, lifted in heat 2 and bailed out, falling heavily. He was withdrawn from the rest of the meeting but it seems he will be sore but otherwise ok.

Devils racked up another three NL points tonight with a hard-fought 47 - 43 home win over high-flying Kent Kings.
Richard Andrews notched a decent 8 points, with Henry Atkins adding 3 + 2.
The Pam Wilton Memorial Trophy second-half event at Somerset tonight was abandoned after a heavy fall for Aron Butcher in Heat 1. It will be restaged on Friday 1st September, all being well.

The young Falcons took on a Reading Racers side at the Oak Tree in Somerset on Friday 25th August, going down 13 - 23.
Jamie Sealey top-scored with 6 from three rides, Stevie Anderson notched 4 and Craig Nethercott 3 + 2. Andrew Palmer failed to score, but not because of lack of effort.
It was Jamie's first skid at Somerset so he did well.

Matt Bates scored 7 + 2 from four rides as his team, the Eastbourne Eagles beat Kent Kings 50 - 40 in the NL Trophy.
It was all to no avail for both teams, however, as only Kent could overhaul Mildenhall Fen Tigers, and they needed at least a draw to do it.
Mildenhall now face Plymouth Devils in the two-legged Final.

A pointless evening for Matt Bates as he took only three rides in Eastbourne's 36 - 54 loss at Kent Kings in the NL.
A night to forget, it seems.
Keep your eyes on young Drew Kemp, who got 7 + 1 from 7 rides as a guest for Eagles, in only his second ( I believe ) full NL outing since becoming old enough to ride in the League.

A much better night for Matt Bates as he nets 7 + 1 from 5 rides in Eastbourne's 51 - 39 triumph at Isle of Wight in the NL.
Connor Coles scores only 4 for Warriors, with two second places and a last, after F,Ex in his opener.

On the Saturday, Eastbourne ran out easy winners over Isle of Wight Warriors in their NL meeting at Arlington, 57 - 33. Matt Bates scored a healthy 10 + 3 from his five outings. Connor Coles had a day to forget, scoring just 3 points, and having two fell/excluded rides out of four.
