More good news
This was in todays press and have just got off the phone to Rob who said Toni is understandably very tired and because of the tubes cant speak at the moment but is getting better every day. He also said Adriana is very grateful for all the messages and emails of support and advice and will reply via the forums when she has time to. Toni is due to have more Xrays and scans later this week.

12:00 - 24 January 2006 Doctors in Argentina expect to find out the full extent of former Exeter Falcons rider Toni Svab's injuries this week.
The Czech Republic star finally came out of his coma over the weekend, nearly two weeks after suffering life-threatening injuries in a crash while riding in the national championships in the coastal city of Bahia Blanca.
Svab is still unable to speak, but he can communicate with his wife, Adriana, and the medical staff by nodding and shaking his head.
The doctors will carry out further tests on his condition in the next few days, but they are already convinced that he has broken his shoulder blades.
Svab's father, who is a former world ice speedway champion, was due to arrive in Argentina today after flying out from his homeland."

This all sounds vey promising news, which is fantastic. Hopefully, Toni will soon be able to speak, and the medics will be able to deal with the physical injuries successfully so that he can then go on to a full recovery. I hope he then decides never to get on a speedway bike again - his health and family must come first. Good luck, Toni.

Latest good news on Tony in email from his manager.
"Toni was last night transferred from the accident hospital he was in since the crash in Bahia Blanca to a rehabilitation clinic in La Plata about 70 miles outside Buenos Aires. It was a trip of several hours in the ambulance (Argentina is a huge country and there rarely is a motorway where you need one)
He has been sitting upright for an hour at a time recently, has been well enough to do a little wander round the hospital and is eating well. Everything is still VERY slow and he is not always lucid when he speaks but doctors say that - if he at least makes sense now and then - it is nothing to worry about. He is capable to speak and understand the 3 languages he knew before the accident.
Whether he will ever be back to how/what he once was is far too early to say. The moto is still ''take one day at a time and be grateful for even the tiniest improvement shown''.
Thank you all for your expressions of concern. I have passed them all onto his wife, who spends hours every day at his bed side, so he is well aware of them.

Yeah,
Its a long long road mate. He is still progressing and still in Argentina at the moment. He has defied everything the doctors predicted at the time and pulled through very quickly indeed. However, now is the long slow slow path back to the Toni we all knew -and it takes so so much time in these type of injuries.
Obviously very difficult for Toni,Adrianna and their little girl and hopefully they can get back to Czecho soon which will speed his recovery even further.
He is doing really well mate-but like I said this next stage is slow and whereas with his physical injuries they would heal day by day almost, or week by week, the next stage just takes a tad longer in terms of being his old self again -but hes a fighter-and has fought so far, more than anyone could imagine-and Im sure he will continue to,as will Adrianna-who must be absolutely knackered and their little daughter bless her.

Thanks for that, Nevs - much appreciated.
We cannot possibly imagine what it has been like for Toni, and indeed his family. Hopefully our collective, continuing good wishes will somehow add to his determination to make a complete recovery.
