Anyone out there got any news on any progress regarding a new track - either at Haldon or elsewhere. Living in the wilds of Kent, I do not get to see any of the local Westcountry newspapers.

There was a meeting this evening. Things need to be agreed with Exeter racecourse before any planning application can be put forward and those talks are still ongoing. Planning will only follow after those have been agreed.
Will be a lenghty process and Easter 2007 is the goal to get things underway. Don't expect regular updates as it will take months.
Paul.

Paul, your Uncle Andy (works with me at Harrier) and I were talking about this the other day. Needless to say we are both sceptical about the new track getting underway at all! All we need is a little something from Mr Short or Tony on this forum to say that at least things are getting along smoothly.

Dave,If you had been there Monday night (I assume you werent)you would have heard things straight from the horses mouth in a very very honest way the likes of which we have not heard before.
There will be no announcements until everything is signed sealed and delivered when, and if it is, unlike Westpoint.
Just hang in there-shouldnt be too much longer before you hear things hopefully.

is march 2007 the date we will know if there will be racing the following year(2008) or is that when they are planning(fingers crossed) to be running (2007) if that makes sense?

As far as I am aware the plan is for Exeter to be coming to the tapes in 2007 wherever it may be. I know this is difficult but can people please stop speculating and just bite their tongues for now at this moment in time-please remember how Westpoint went tits up -pardon the expression. Things are being dealt with rest assured. Once Exeter get the go ahead wherever or whenever then normal service resumed!!!-But until those final decisions have been released and made public,if you care about the future just go with it for a while longer eh? Short term loss for possibly a very long term gain. We certainly wont be deleting threads(The moderators) unless they directly threaten the future of Exeter but at this moment in time speculation is not going to help matters in any way whatsoever and could actually put into jeapordy the very thing people are trying to achieve. As soon as things are known, I was told we-(all that use the website and forum) will be amongst the first to know. Just be patient for a bit longer please guys and remember this is an unofficial website and not an official one. Here endeth the lesson

I think it might be fair to say that the less you hear about the Speedway in the next couple months or so the smoother things are probably going.......

Just to give us some small rays of hope - I needed to be at the racecourse recently and I was warmly welcomed by a member of the organisation - his general demeanour was one of 'the speedway is most welcome up here as and when all the decisions have been made'. A most charming man and enthusiastic toward the speedway continuing 'up on the hill'. Crumbs of succour for those of us not relishing the diet for this summer. Don't be weak hearted guys I believe that we will see falcons soaring on the top of the hill sometime in the not too distant future - and not only feathered ones !

Resigned to the fact that the C.G is gone,i personally think Haldon WILL be brilliant.I used to love going to the longtrack meetings up there in the late 70's...Early 80's...Bl*8dy cold in March though Funny how folk didnt complain then though, the long-trackers didnt even have silencers on the exhaust!!! And i would like to have seen someone tell Kenny Roberts,Peter Collins and our Vaclav riding 750 Yamaha Dirtbikes They where 'to loud'' ;D ;D Why are people so #@?! objectionable these days??? Bored of their own lives maybe

The plant hire company currently supplying free diggers, dumpers etc to Plymouth have said the same facility will be available for the Exeter track build
