ITV teletext local news reports that the local government onbudsman is investigating Exeter City Councils designation of the County Ground as a brownfield site in planning terms rather than a greenfield site.
This makes an enormous difference in consideration of what may or may not be built on it, remember the CG reportedly is covered by covenant that says it has to be an open space or a sports facility.
Therefore it gives credence to my earlier report that speedway COULD run at the CG in 2006
Wonder how long before this one is wiped too

I deleted your last post Towbar. You have reworded the title of this one and is different to the one you originally posted on here and the one barnecooseboy posted on the main british forum "Could Exeter have run in 2006" but will give the same answer as I did on there to barnecooseboy. Once again this is just my personal view. "Link about the housing issue. www.thisisexeter.co.uk/displayNode.jsp?nodeId=137199&command=displayContent&sourceNode=136986&contentPK=13984634&folderPk=79934Link about Ian Bremner, Rugby clubs director's sacking. www.thisisexeter.co.uk/displayNode.jsp?nodeId=137015&command=displayContent&sourceNode=136999&contentPK=13859304&moduleName=InternalSearch&formname=sidebarsearchI would urge all you to read both totally, and the dates of the articles, as there are a lot of conflicting views included in both articles that the original posting on main british forum does not make clear. www.speedway-forum.co.uk/forums/index.php?showtopic=24322 and the title "Could Exeter have run in 2006" is a tad misleading I feel, and certainly implies the suggestion to me personally that the suggestion is there that the Exeter management could have done more last season to secure another year at the CG for 2006,and have let the fans down which I dont for one single second believe to be the case-especially living locally and seeing how over the winter that development plans have grown and grown with Bellway selling part of the site to Pegasus for even more housing!--JUST look at the dates. The long term survival and resurrection of Exeter is paramount and postings such as this will be of absolutely no help in that direction at this moment in time. To the poster= You have been through planning applications yourself, and there is no point wasting their time on this, when they could be concentrating their efforts on the long term future-You of all people should know that-and also recall if I remember rightly (if I do) the Trelawny website was shut down when criticisms and such like became too much at times. Lets just leave the Exeter team to sort it out please for now for the (fingers crossed) new track and not add further speculation please. There is absolutely no way the CG will remain a sports stadium or used for leisure-The issue is how many houses can be built there depending on how its finally declared as simple as that. Towbar-If I have taken your post in the wrong way then I apologise."

The info was in the public domain when it appeared on Westcountry teletext page 341
The info about 2006 came from a member of the CG 2005 promotion/management team with no caveat about it being secret
The trelawny site was closed by Black Diamond as the result of a dispute with a third party over the third party trying to control tjhe site when he did not own it and copyright issues

or you could take a positive view and see the opportunity to revive the old Western League at Conference level with Plymouth, Exeter, Weymouth (Hopefully), Somerset, and maybe somewhere else.
The Exeter management have no fault because the situation has come about as a result of the developers changing their mind/timescale.

I make no apologies for repeating what I said on the UK Speedway forum, early on in the thread - Could Exeter have run in 2006 -
COULD Exeter have run in 2006 is a different scenario to CAN Exeter run in 2006. I feel a distinct lack of Falcons' fans replying to this topic gives you the answer.
Yes, the County Ground is still there; track, decaying surroundings, warts and all. However, the End of Era meeting WAS the end which gave credence and all due respect to the history of the place, but it is time to move on.
Haldon 2007 is the future.
Long live the Falcons.

Towbar-thank you for clarifying that is what you meant-it certainly didnt read that way originally in fans eyes. Maybe we could get a bit better at posting a bit more comprehensively so that people do not try and read between the lines.
However, the main thing now is the Future of Exeter as simple as that-and hopefully nothing more will be heard on here until they have some good news to pass on.

Just suppose when the rugby vacate the stadium they take the floodlights with them as their assets which i reckon they could!!! Seem to remember we accidently, unsuccessfully, and totally inadvertaintly trialled that scenario a few years ago twice in eight days when the floodlights failed-what a laugh that was eh!-Didnt exactly work did it with 3 ford Escorts, a Peugout 405 on the first bend and two Morris marinas,an Austin Allegro,The chip van, and two Robin Reliants on the 3rd and 4th bend trying to lighten the gloom with all their headlights on full beam along with every fan with a cigarette lighter lighting it up-was almost like being at an Elton John Concert -never mind smarty pants Stonehewer coming around with a torch strapped to his helmet on a bike
