Middlesbrough getting stuffed 4 - 0 by Seville was not the only sad thing that happened on Wednesday evening. Tony Lethbridge, John Tombs and yours truly were at the County Ground dismantling 6 sections of the infamous metal fence. I gather one section is to go to the Albert Museum in Queen Street where it will be displayed, with the theme being how the fence was made from old air raid shelters from WW2 and then lasted so many years with the speedway at the County Ground. Another is destined for the Speedway Museum once this is up and running ( that's the one George Barclay is spearheading ). As for the remainder, I am not certain of their future. Will advise if I hear anything further on this. Apparently, the C.G. has to be handed over by midnight on Friday 12th May so I guess all the rest of the fence will belong to the developers and end up as scrap ? Sad day.

Glad to hear that a few sections of the fence are being preserved and particulaly that one section is going to the speedway museum. Future generations of fans will be amazed when they see it !

We should preserve it as we need something to rest the new air fence against.
