Wrote an email as "a neutral" asking some questions. You're right they are idiots. Dear Mr Kirby Thank you for your interest in the Speedway issue. To answer your points: The 98dB figure is the noise level at which the speedway takes place at the stadium. This is akin to rolling thunder, which is between 90-100dB. We have undergone our own independent noise tests, which categorically state “there is a very high likelihood of noise” during race meetings. These independent tests report that we would experience noise pollution of some 65dB, which would be hugely detrimental to the recovery of the injured Firefighters. The Speedway noise tests were taken over a very small time period and in a particularly wooded area. The actual centre is a lot more open and our tests were taken over a week. The Speedway noise tests were also taken with the South-Westerly wind blowing in a North-Easterly direction. By the Speedway’s own admission, if the wind were to be a North-Easterly wind, blowing in a South-Westerly direction, as happens approximately half the time, we would experience noise pollution. I hope this answers your thoughts and, if you wish, we would be delighted to give you further details, and even a tour to show you the wonderful work the Centre achieves. Just checked out the various levels of sound. Apparently typing comes out at 65 decibels which is what the manager of the Firemen's Centre reckons will be the noice from the speedway! I would have hoped that even injured firemen would have been able to cope with that level of noise for a few minutes each week! A tractor working hard generates about 95 decibels - I wonder if they have complained about farmers working within a one mile radius of their Centre!

Could anyone tell me if and when they date for teh official decision i.e. in the council chamber will be? I know we can all sit in the public gallery if we can get time of work that is! I gather it will be at Teignbridge Council's Ford House?

My understanding is that Planning Committees meet every couple of months with the next one scheduled for August.
Hopefully, Allen will let us know and let us know what he wants from us. If he does not want lots of people attending then it would be best to leave it until it is a done deal.
We are all waiting with eager anticipation. All the vibes are of a positive nature, but it only takes one mistake to lose everything.
Let's keep hoping, praying, and whatever else we can do to create a positive vibe.
(P.S. More positive news just came through - more about that later)

The other positive news is that "the team" have gained control of the domain name "Exeterfalcons.com" so we can move ahead quicker and 'do more' to make sure the forum and the website are kept aligned. In the short term it means that you cannot directly access the website using "www.exeterfalcons.com" but that will be corrected at the earliest possible opportunity. You can still link to the website using the old full address: www.exeterfalcons.pwp.blueyonder.co.uk/indexdotcom.htmlThat will be changing once we have put through all the amendments. Things are looking positive.

Right, looks like the latest noise tests should shut the firemen up, now we have just got to get rid of those poxy gorse bushes! How can anyone be concerned over the lose of some gorse bushes anyway, its not like they are rare is it - i really fear for our world sometimes, it seems like its fine for Israel to kill kids in Lebanon but if you want to pull up a few old bushes.....well, words fail me sometimes.

How can anyone be concerned over the lose of some gorse bushes anyway Would be fair enough if is was spring and there were birds using it to nest, but in a couple months there wouldn't be any problem

Hopefully, with a bit of tact & diplomacy, a compromise will be reached whereby gorse bushes or whatever can be planted , in greater number than those we propose to pull up, on bare land adjacent to the site of the stadium, so that in the future the Dartford Warblers etc will have even more potential nesting places than they do now. Mr. Trump has so far shown himself to be pretty darn good at t & d so fingers crossed he will work some magic for us again. ( I saw the Dartford Warblers in concert once in London - not my sort of music really ! )

However, Squibby has a very good point and Allen will have done his homework. Hopefully he has had a great holiday and comes back refreshed to renew the battle. English Nature were expected to raise objections. As a government body they have a duty to protect any intrusion. We have to present a case whereby our sport and nature can coexist amicably on the Haldon site.
