Today is the first anniversary of the End of an Era meeting. I understand the demolition crew have or are about to move into the County Ground. If anyone still wants a safety fence panel I suggest they get into the track fairly promptly. The gates were open at the weekend.

I went across to the track on Friday to try and get some pics for the first anniversary but it was locked up. Just doesnt seem a year ago does it..... I went back today and it was definately unlocked and the first of the demolition crew are indeed there working on the 4th bend. I managed to sneak a few pictures of the old place before the battery ran out but now cant find the software for the camera to upload them. Will carry on looking for the disc tonight. Will put the few pics I have on here as soon as I can. Will go back over later this week and hopefully get some more pics.

Thanks for that Nevs. You really know how to cheer a girl up!! Better not show No. 1 daughter - still can't drive past the place without welling up!! Feel like we should all stand on the centre green one last time for a farewell ceremony!! Blimey, that really would be depressing!! Hurry up Haldon - the natives are getting restless!!

How interesting to see the pics of the County Ground at this stage one year on, even the terracing where i used to stand, i'm sure we could of had a full season this year. God how we miss the Falcons flying.

i'm sure we could of had a full season this year. Absolutely no chance mate-even if we would like to think we could have. Harsh but true.

We are now the proud owners of a section of the county ground fence , we went down last week to speak to the demolition crew and they saved us a panel , sorry to say the rest has been disposed of , they also gave us a sign saying exeter speedway, that they found and saved for us.

You lucky thing Mary - are you coming next Monday and will your secret santa be kind of a large rectangular item?!? We should be so lucky. My treasure is that I have a newspaper dated 1937 advertising Exeter Falcons and featuring Bronco Slade. My disappointment is that it is under my kitchen extension. The builders very kindly pointed out their discovery wrapped around a old lintel and promptly buried it under the new floor. But, it is there, honest!

I hate to disillusion you but if you dig your kitchen floor up you will find that the date on the newspaper is 1947, not 1937. There was no speedway at Exeter after 1934 and the Falcons didn't come into being until '47. Broncho was around but riding for Hackney at the time. Don't you just hate a smart ass? Looking forward to seeing everybody on monday.
