Paul, whats the matter with you - you start the week off accusing Seemond of deliberately riding into other riders, then you appear to be saying that Matt Bates should not be Ben's replacement - who else do you suggest that management can use ? - just because you hold a red flag during racing does not mean you can slag off riders. Someone will tell you where to stick that flag before long !!!

Possibly in the same place it was alleged that Nevsy put the Berwick Czecho flag ??!! Seriously though, I again have to agree with Paul when he says young Matt is not the ideal choice for the 3 pt slot in the Falcons team. He is less experienced than Ben, and is only now recovering from a nasty crash himself. I think he would be doing himself no favours if he agreed to ride for us - minimum 12 laps around the C.G. every week will not help his back to recover fully, will it. Simon Walker may be available - ok, he was no great shakes around Exeter before, but could be as good as anyone else we are likely to tempt to join us. ( Frankly, one or two comments on this thread directed at Paul W are out of order. We are all entitled to our views and this forum will lose respect generally if we lower ourselves to slagging one another off.)

Lee Smart would be worth a try as well as at least he is a trier. I think Simon Walker is on a 3.1 average so that wouldn't work.
Don't think there are any new riders worth a try out there. However, there are only 5 home meetings left so anyone who was brought in would remain on a 3-point average for next season, so wouldn't be riding themselves out of a team place if they were to do well.
Honey - I'll stick to raking the track thanks - quite enjoy it out there you know.
Dontgothere - only 5 more matches in which you may see me step on my rake and hit myself in the face again. Haven't done it for a few years but you never know - you may get lucky! Where did I slag riders off anyway? I gave an opinion on Seemond's riding and then stated that Matt Bates would not be my choice for Ben's replacement. Sure that sounded mean because I didn't back up my statement with any reasoning - like 6 seconds off PL standard, just back from injury etc.......

What terrible news.
Ben, I sincerely hope that you have a speedy recovery and that your leg will be as good as new before too long.
It couldn't have come at a worse time, just as Ben was really getting to grips with premier racing. Looking forward to seeing him back on track again next year.

I wish Ben a speedy and successful recovery - we want you back next season fit and eager to pick up from where you left off. Ben is part of the future of Exeter Speedway. As for a replacement - what about the Dutch lad we have seen at CG - Jannick de Jong he definitely looks the part - is unattached and would come in on a 3.00 - wouldn't he ? Or, what about the Australian lad who had a spin round Sheffield on Lee's equipment ? Seemed that he was attracting attention from some knowledgeable folk - again, he would be on 3.00 also.

No idea what average Jannick would come in on. Theo Pijper (also Dutch) came in on a 3.00 a few years ago as did both of the Tressarieu brothers (yes I know they are French!). Not sure what the rules are exactly but for those who haven't done any league racing it is different.
Jannick on a 3.00 average would be great. Starting at this stage of the season, he wouldn't get a new average and would start next year still on 3 - whether that would be in a Falcons race-jacket is still to be seen.

Paul doesnt sit on the fence to be sure in life-He was the first of the track staff to jump over it when Seemonds bike went over on Monday-checked the spectators were ok first- then started nicking bits off it. Well he didnt -but he was first there with allen keys and socket sets. Scrapheat challenge here we come ;D And St Seemond- if you are looking in Im joking mate Could we now keep this to a best wishes to Ben thread-Any good wishes I will copy and paste and try and send to Shortoi or Bryn who hopefully will get them to him soon-once I have worked out how to do it
