Walked down Tin Lane on Friday to visit the Speedway Barber. What a sad sight! THe Millennium Bar is gone, The Rugby memorial club is all but gone, and the press box was just hanging there. Its probably gone too by now. The pits seemed to have dissapeared but was stopped from having a really good look as no hard hat, boots etc. THe grandstand will go this week.

I did much the same as you, Tony, and it's a sad sight indeed. Another week and the evidence of speedway at the C.G. will be gone forever. I'm glad now that I took some photos of the place, and particularly the pits area, after they had been spruced up prior to the final season - if anyone wants a photo of the pits just let me know.

Hope you got some of the Rugby club cars we managed to emulsion that day an all Can you host them anywhere? If not you can email them to me-or otherwise one of us can scan them and I will get them up on here for you. On a personal note I am still trying to get my head around the idea that the place is no more--and I just can't-Totally gutted. I think I may have to see a counsellor about it--How about I go and see a councillor from Exeter instead and if I do, will you come with me please Squibby and Tony as well and give them hell from me as well please as I am the shy one who sits in the corner and you are both older boys than me ;D Anne and Mary will probably whack them one with their handbags on their way out for good measure as well-Mary's hopefully containing the fence panel she rescued-won't you girls ;D

No more queueing at THOSE gates now. AND Rumours that Allen has enough money to build an escalator up Haldon Hill are completely false.

That 1st shot taken inside the ground just proves that we always had plenty of dirt down.

Look's like somebody finally let Carl Stonhewer loose on the county ground to do what he always wanted to do with it
