I agree with u both it was a brilliant night and am sorry it all got 2 much 4 me and as everyone saw i was very upset.I had too remember my dad in one way or another and by laying the wreath on the track was my way of saying goodbye.I would like to thank everyone for there support while i was doing it as u can understand it was the hardest thing i have ever done! You did your dad proud mate. As Craig and I walked the track for the last time we were both in tears wishing his Grandad could be there to see it all-even though they had never met as he died when I was nine. Once speedway gets in the blood Honey it never leaves you or your family or your descendants. Tuesday has been such a weird day as if there is nothing left-the morning after the night before-I bet you feel the same. Chin up mate-just got to keep our fingers crossed for our beloved Falcons future-although with no CG it will never be the same again as to what we grew up with.

It was a very good night with so many nostalgic moments - Vaclav on the Vespa, Scott on a speedway bike again after 23 years, Ivan looking more like 35 than 65, Racer - but what really got me very close to tears was right at the end, when the strains of the RAF March rang out over the tannoy. A big thankyou to young Craig for that evocative moment. It was so poignant that the lights did not come back on again after the fireworks - no words could sum up the feelings of all on the night as well as that did. Let us all pray that the lights DO come back on again, even if it is not until 2007. I for one cannot wait to see Ivan do the first 4 laps at the new track. Oh - nearly forgot. I just had to buy one particular racejacket at the auction - it seemed so much the right way to put a smile on the face and cheer myself up - have you guessed which one it is yet ?? Yep - Davey Watt No. 12 ;D ;D

Unfortunately I cannot lie and you have got a tad too nostalgic unfortunately . As Jethro would say.. What happened was................... Craigs last song he was going to play was Go now-at which point we walked around the track-beforehe put it on I said are you sure there is nothing else likely to play afterwards and he said no chance. I said you sure? Yes Dad Im sure. We got to almost the first bend when Go now stopped playing. Next second "welcome to tonights entertainment aqnd The RAF March " rang out- Craig just looked at me and said Oh F*ck and I have never seen the lad run so fast up those stairs to the pressbox-- When he got back and we walked the track I said" its ok mate sounded well planned-wish we had planned that last night but please dont swear at me like that ever again" Also the reasons the lights didnt come back on were that once you shut them down it takes 20 mins to get the buggers charged back up and on again which no one realised Sorry to shatter your illusions Squibby-but I have to say was a perfect script if that had all been the case Bet Colin would have had a little chuckle to himself and kept the lights off until a week Tuesday;D He also had "Fields of Gold" lined up for your walk Honey but unfortunately it didnt work out as Ivan was still at the tapes and he swore at me again and said what the hell do I do now? Honey is out there already. Anyway never mind-he tried it and didnt work out in any way- and I dont mean to minimise your feelings Honey-we all (Exeter faithful) had a great/sad night in equal measures and anyone that loves Exeter have their own memories of the night. You especially

I missed the ' Welcome to tonight's entertainment ' bit, Nevs ! If Craig didn't plan it then an unseen hand must have been at work, coz it was a perfect touch, hearing that tune wafting through the darkness - blimey, I'm going all sentimental again............ God bless Colin, Tony S, and all those who passed on before that final night. Jimmy Squibb, my first speedway hero- who of us who are old enough could forget those socks out over the racing boots. Alan Cowland, Kevin Holden, Goog, Chris J and Chris B et al. No doubt they were all looking down fondly on the old place. RIP County Ground. Long Live ' THE FALCONS ' !!!!!
