Most of the kids and parents have been at the track for the past two days
rebuilding yet again a new clubhouse totally ready for a big meeting in
Exeter later this summer-and when I say building thats exactly what they
have done.
Built from scratch-will be complete with electrics and running water etc
refreshments etc etc.
The kids themselves were out painting the fences on the track whilst the
adults actually built the new clubhouse(Electricians,Brickies, plumbers
sort of experts)-roof not on yet-happens again next weekend when the kids
will again be generally tidying up the venue and rumour has it the
grandstand (12 people capacity) will be the kids next job to clean and
repaint.
They have replaced bricks torn out of the surrounding terracing around the
rest of the track etc.
Nobody gives up.
Lets hope this time it doesnt get wrecked once again-cos as far as long I
have been involved with the kids in about the 8 past years or so they have
had about 4 clubhouses in various forms totally destroyed by vandals-cant
wait to see the work they have done this weekend-as was working.
This club does not give up and wont be defeated by vandals.
Just a shame that the money raised by hosting a car boot sale at Matford
each year-(about £500 max), every year has to replace what was vandalised
during the previous winter-rest assured these kids will once again walk
from Swing bridge to Turf Locks in a sponsored walk later next month to
try and raise some more.
(Even though when they get there they demand 3 bottles of Coke and a
couple of burgers each once they get there) ;D Which costs more than
their relatives and friends sponsored them in the first place ;D
Anyway-I digressed-Nasty Vandals.....
This weeks press report.
