Thomas Retains U13 British Individual Title
Sam Dart and Thomas Reed made the long journey to Stockport, Manchester to compete in the U13 British Individual Championship.Sam was very unlucky to miss competing in the final due to a last race fall after battling his way from last to first in a very exciting race.Sam rode steadily throughout the meeting and missed out on being a reserve for the final , after being put on the outside kerb by Matthew Smith of Sandwell. He scored 11 points in the semi-final.
Thomas was unbeaten in the semi-final, scoring a maximum 20 points. He was disappointed not to have the opportunity to race old rivals Alec Briggs of East London and Robbie Venson of Leicester who were unable to take their places in the semi-final due to their late arrival, caused by terrible traffic hold-ups on the M6 and by no leniency shown by the officials of the meeting .Thomas shot out of the gates when racing Matt Beharrell of Hull and Ryan Beeston of Ipswich to win both races.
The final was a closely fought affair with three riders unbeaten after two rides Daniel Chambers of Hethersett, Ben Mould of Newport, & Thomas.Thomas went into his third race with the gate advantage of grid 1 against his old rival Ben Mould on grid 4, this was always going to be an exciting ,nail-biting race but Thomas got in front and lead the way with Ben hot on his heels throughout the race.Daniel Chambers had to be beaten in heat 16 to ensure Thomas's chance of retaining his title. With Daniel on grid 2 and Thomas on grid 4 ,Thomas held the nerves together to fly pass him and go on to win the race.Heat 20 was a test of nerves as three riders were due to ride for podium positions.Ben Mould and Daniel Chambers both on 15 points and Ryan Beeston one point behind on14 points."Under Starters Orders" and Ryan moves ,nerves proved too much ,Ryan is excluded. Leaving Ben to come across from grid 3 and beat Daniel on grid 1.Thomas was unbeaten throughout the meeting,a truly, worthy champion!
