Andy collets report from the national round at Exeter last Saturday.
Felt sorry for the kids from leicester and Ipswich-some who left home at 4.30am sat morning to reach Exeter and were still there at 8.00pm at night packing up for the long journey home again but they loved it.
Seems like it was a great day-couldn't get there unti 5.30 for the under 14s and upwards.
The club appears to have done everyone proud on the day judging by comments elsewhere and the place was absolutely packed.
Well done all you kids from exeter and everyone that travelled from afar. You did us all proud to say the least.
I will post the under 18 final on you tube and post a link here if I can get hold of the video-that was something else.....Well done Dom

Ipswich retained the title with Sandwell just holding Exeter off by 458 to 453 for runners up spot. The Exeter supporters had plenty to cheer about on the day with several trophies coming to Exeter riders. Exeter’s National under 13 champion Thomas Reed winning the under 14 grand prix ‘A’ final to finish second overall in the series. Joe Avery also had a good meeting when he won the ‘A’ final of the under 10’s round to finish in third place overall in the series. In the under 8’s Jack Herbert won the ‘C’ final while Scott Borrowdale won the ‘D’ final in the grand prix series also riding in the under 8’s and adding 62 points to the team total were Ryan Coles (6) Oliver Lewis (7) Kaylee Gover (6) Will Tidball (12) Shannon Borrowdale (5) and Jenson Heyde (6). In the under 10’s a further 63 points were added to the teams score by Joe Avery (16) Matt Trechmann (13) Charlie Jane Herbert (9) Tanisha Heyde (7) Lauren Hookway (7) Leah Gover (6) and Kieran Lewis (5). In the under 12’s Sam Dart gained a trophy by winning the ‘C’ final in the grand prix series to help the team score another 39 points with the help of team mates Aaron Coles (13) Liam Borrowdale (6) and Corey Heyde (9). In addition to Thomas Reed winning the ‘A’ final in the grand prix series the other Exeter riders to help increase the the score by another 64 points in the under 14’s were Julian Way (6)
James Crampton (7) Tim Lake (9) Aaron Herbert (13) Jamie Borrowdale (8) and Luke Brennan (6). With only two riders in the under 16’s and one in the under 18’s Exeter could not have asked for a better finish when Amy Herbert won the ‘D’ final and Craig Nethercott won the ‘C’ final of the grand prix series while Dominic McCrae took a very well deserved win in the ‘A' final of the under 18’s grand prix series by passing two riders on the last bend of the last race of the day to the very loud appreciation of the Exeter crowd. In all a good days racing and an appreciative crowd the final score for the round at Exeter was Exeter (256) Ipswich (187) Sandwell (161) Wednesfield (115) Leicester (59) Newport (57) "
