Although we have no speedway this season The Exeter Aces cycle speedway has started again for 2007.
First press report of the season by Andy Collett.
Round one of the Local Cycle Speedway League started on a dry track under their recently refurbished lighting but finished in the rain leading to some exciting racing. The nights racing was spread over five groups and in the top group ‘A’ Thomas Reed did well starting with only a second place he went on to win his remaining 3 rides to finish on 14 points ahead of Dominic McCrae and Mark Reed both on 11 points. In group ‘B’ Tim Lake continued his new found form to finish on 15 points ahead of James Crampton who is showing promise in the opening round finishing on 11 points. Group ‘C’ was a confotable win for Aaron Coles on 14 points from Joe Avery and Corey Heyde drawing for second place on 9 points each. Group ‘D’ provided the only 16 point maximum of the night for Charlie Jane Herbert with Jack Herbert finishing on 14 point in second place. The final Group ‘E’ saw Scot Borrowdale finishing in front on 8 points followed closely by Ryan Coles in second on 7 points.
Local League Racing for any age or ability takes place at the Cofton Road Wheels Centre Marsh Barton every Thursday night from 7.30 – 9.00. Admission is free and everyone is welcome. For anyone who would like to come and try it races will be held during the night for newcomers, bikes and safety wear are available for use on the night if needed.
