REPORT in the Express & Echo - Saturday 12th April - Page 53
Exeter Aces' second match of the South West League saw them face a strong and experienced side from Horspath.
The Exeter team got off to a flying start, with Craig Nethercott and Mark Reed gaining the first maximum heat advantage in heat two, whilst more big hits to the Horspath team continued to increase their lead.
In heat four, another top points advantage for the Aces came from Tim Lake and Dave Dart, which gave them a 25-15 lead.
The first slip-up for Exeter came in the race after the interval.
Horspath had clearly prepared themselves for a comeback and the experienced Steve Harris and top Welsh youngster Mark Carmichael paired together to hit the Aces hard with a 7-3 heat advantage over Aaron Herbert and Dan Winchester.
Exeter, pushing for their first league win of the new season, fought back with Dominic McCrae and Thomas Reed finishing first and second in heat 16, leaving the Oxfordshire team adrift again.
McCrae continued his fine form and Reed only dropped one point in five rides to top score with an impressive 19.
Two more shared heats resulted in a 98-82 victory for the Aces.

Thanks for posting that report Nigel and I shall do my best to bring you guys the reports for our future matches. That was just my second report I have written of the season, but as I am not the press officer for the Aces official league matches I must remember to post my reports on here for you guys to read. Ive had coursework deadlines lately but hope to carry on writing the reports after each match. Cheers, Craig
