Well we are back.
We arrived at the stadium at around 12pm (in glorious sunshine as it was all weekend) had a little wander, saw no vans riders etc didn't really think much of it, thought perhaps it was too early for them to have got there quite yet.
Our party of four had decided to venture to the zoo. most of the others were going into town.
While at the zoo we did receive a text from Mrs Claas. along the lines of what a c**k up and farce, unsure what it was referring to we carried on with our visit.
We got a taxi back to the stadium about 4.30, when the taxi driver tried to enter the slip road to the stadium it was coned off and there was a man speaking to all the car drivers, we assumed that they just weren't allowing cars in.
He spoke to the taxi driver and the driver then turned to us and said, "speedway - game over" implying that it had been cancelled .
He then asked us what did we want to do now,
we said that we had to get to our bus in the the car park, he looked extremely confused, we managed to get him to turn into the car park and we pointed to the bus at the very end and we said that is our bus.
He started laughing and banging his head on the steering wheel ,
He then explained that bus in German means guitar.
So eventually we returned to the guitar , sorry i mean bus and were told by some of the others who had already returned, what was going on.
I don't think any of us could then or even still can comprehend how this could happen,
An indoor event guarantees no rain off, well not any more it would seem.
Unfortunately speedway is often seen by non fans as amateur and this really does not help that image at all.
How can they with all their track laying experience put down shale that is obviously too wet/unusable whatever their excuse was, and hope that it will get better.
Why was it not stored better to prevent this from happening?
Surely the super prix has just been handed to Mr Gollob on a plate.
All questions I am sure have been asked and unanswered a thousand times and more this weekend.
Our Hotel was just a short distance away from Dortmund football stadium where on Saturday night Germany where playing Russia,
So when we returned to the hotel we wandered down there,
the lads did enquire if there were any tickets available, (we knew there wouldn't be but you have to ask don't you .)
Even I would have gone and I can't stand football.
They didn't want to chance the touts, and upon reflection it was decided that it was probably for the best because if you were in the German end they would probably think you were Russian and vice versa.
The atmosphere was fantastic, we were stood outside when the
players coaches arrived and they were cheered into the ground.
All in all we actually had a fantastic weekend apart from the obvious.
Many thanks to Malcolm, Ashley and Alison for organizing a very good trip, and all the Plymouth supporters for allowing interlopers from Exeter onto their trip.
I am sure Winkey will give us his version of events at some point.
