So what will you miss the most this summer? Away thrashings, nigels errors, filling in your programme, the food ( ) etc.... Seriously its starting to hit home a bit now as march arrives, the friends you make, the banter it will be a very different year this year, lets just hope that we get sorted for 2007.

Come to Plymouth its only 30 minutes, there are less chances of a motorway closure and it has to be cheaper on fuel.

Its like Mondays dont exist at the moment, lets hope Alan Trump comes good. Time some sort of planning was put in I reckon. Will go to Somerset for some meetings, but dont like the track much, its too short and not very exciting to watch even though the racing is sometimes very close. Lets hope the new Falcons track is a little longer and more demanding than some of the baby tracks. Hope were OK for next season keep contributing to let people know the fans are still here.

Sorry to say this but i've been 3 times so far and havent seen a bad meeting yet.
Hope the new track is nearly the same with a little more on the straights and a slight bit of banking.

Hi
I've been an Exeter supporter since 1969 (after Plymouth last rode and my Dad drove me to The County Ground every Monday ... not an easy trip in those days!)
Since 1985 I've lived near Basingstoke but still managed to get to many Falcons home meetings, despite Reading being just 20 minutes away, on Monday nights.
I am keeping fingers crossed that Mr Trump gets something tangible happening at Haldon. Sounds very promising.
I've read this website often. A little concerned that the activity has dropped away.
However, I'll admit to being extremely disappointed that there doesn't seem to be a greater excitement at Plymouth reopening. I was hoping that there would be a boost to the crowds there with Exeter supporters going West to watch Seemond etc.
After all my years battling up the A30 to watch and support Exeter, I'm hoping that a few hundred might make the same trip in reverse?
Fingers crossed for The Falcons ... if anyone can remember the old local Devils v Falcons derbies, it would be great for Plymouth to be a success and get in to the Premier League!
Regards

Welcome aboard Rogero. Glad you enjoyed your time following the Falcons at The CG,hopefully they will fly again soon. As you say things have gone rather quiet on here, but to be fair thats to be expected simply because at this time there really isnt an awful lot of stuff to talk and debate about. Obviously when the site receives any news then things are posted and debated. Its trying to get people like yourselves to post snippetts etc and a bit of banter-well done you-Keep posting. With regards to Plymouth Im sure many from Exeter will attend. Im not sure if you are aware but they have their own website and forum at www.plymouthdevils.co.uk/ . Once they are up and running then Im sure us Falcon fans will come on to give them some friendly banter and stick. As an aside my lad was racing cycle Speedway at Southampton last weekend in a GP and Jessica Lamb was there racing-Obviously trying to get herself fit for her debut for Plymouth.(Although one or two dads apparently reported she seemed pretty fit anyway!!! )-Step forth Mr Coles ;D-Dont look at me I wasnt there to judge Best of luck with the launch and Im sure you will see many of us there over the course of the season-and hey kepp posting and more like you. John

Thanks for the welcome John. I have been a reader of the site from a distance for some time ... but, even though I am a Falcons fan, the fact that I live 120 miles away seemed that I might be intruding in to the site.
I would still like to know what the true attendance figure was for the End of An Era meeting.
I agree with everything that you say ... yes, I had seen the new Devils website. I'm quite impressed. Even has some colour cine film of The Devils v Romford from 1969. I was there and I am sure that I can see my lated Dad's old Hillman Minx parked on the first bend banking!
It would be great to have some sort of Falcons team down at Plymouth in a 'friendly' this season!
I will have split loyalties ... still have fond memories of Squibb, Cox, Julian, Blewett, Cake, Bass, Woodcock etc etc down at Plymouth in Devils colours.
Ditto re-jess Lamb. She has a very good website and is indeed a looker as well as being a very gutsy young lady.
I have everything crossed that Haldon happens. There is an awful lot of affection for Exeter Falcons (despite the lack of enthusiasm for the track in mnay quarters).
Regards
Roger

I have been to Somerset many times, and can't believe you can say it's not very exciting, it is always close racing and IMO the track is superb, if we can get one that is similiar it will make for good racing, and will be great for Exeter Speedway, I like to see close racing although there are some fans who like to see maximum points in every heat, but not for me, what do the rest of you think.

I have to admit that, love The County Ground as I did, I was often embarrassed to take friends there because the racing was processional ... but fast, spectacular and I knew little better.
Then I went to Oxford, Poole, Reading and even Swindon and discovered that you can get close races and regular overtaking. I haven't been to Somerset yet, but I hear that the racing is good.
Tonight I saw a real spectacular ... Reading V Swindon. A fantastic advert for speedway with a real bumper crowd. There were 2 or 3 races that you would never have been able to see at The County Ground in a season, let alone in one meeting.
However, a really good race at The County Ground was always a real cracker. I remember so many with Vaclav Verner (in particular), Zenon Plech, Christer Lofqvist, Nigel Boocock, Sandor Levai (my favourite riders of days gone by!).
I miss The County Ground ... but a more regular home track will give better racing and a team with a chance to pick up points away.

Roger
