It has been interesting reading Press reports that Manor Delta, the Trust set up in the name of the late Colin Hill has reportedly taken a 25% share in the Consortium that has taken over the running of Plymouth Devils.
Like many, I am now getting to a stage of thinking that the Falcons are never going to return and those involved have either effectively given up the search for a new site or have exhausted there own responsibility of finding one.
I know that many of us who expected to see Speedway back and the Falcons flying again knew it would be on the outskirts of City but surely the St Boniface Arena, Plymouth is stretching it a bit far!
It would have be nice of Manor Delta to have informed the long-suffering Falcons supporters of the situation or now prepare a Press release outlining the reasoning behind this development and the exact situation regarding a new track rather than the bog-standard 'We are still actively looking, but unable to say anything at the present time'.
What happens if Plymouth Speedway make a loss? Does 25% of the money come from the estate of Colin Hill and effectively absolve the responsibility of those who have taken a stake in the Club? Further more would that loss effect the long term search for a new home within the City by diminishing the funds available?
Like many Supporters I talk to are becoming very disillusioned by the situation.

I have to admit that, as the present Treasurer and Secretary of the ESSC, I was a tad surprised to hear this news.
However, it must be borne in mind that ManorDelta Ltd is entirely separate from the Supporters Club and, if the Directors/Shareholders of the company consider it appropriate to invest some of the late Mr Hill's bequest in this way, that is entirely their prerogative.
It would seem, though, to be putting the first few nails into the coffin bearing the plaque saying ' Exeter Falcons RIP '.
Unless I win £6million on the Lottery on Wednesday, of course !! ;D

This has to be the worst news i've ever heard why would you invest any money at Plymouth. Terrible track, Terrible facilities and very expensive to go. I used to go to the county ground every week since the late 70's and have been hoping that we would have speedway back in Exeter someday. Since Colin Hill died we have been told nothing better than useless information. Look back over old threads and look at the rubbish thats been said nothing has happened not one thing.I will never go to Plymouth just because you have a few race jackets made up with the Falcons name on doesn't mean they are. They are not Exeter Falcons they are someones attempt to get a few more people through the gate and I am saddened that the people who were trusted to keep the Falcons alive think that this is ok. IT IS NOT OK IF THIS IS YOUR BEST IT IS NOT GOOD ENOUGH!

I think I should point out that there are no plans to call the team riding at Plymouth Speedway by any name involving Exeter and/or Falcons. It will still be the Plymouth Devils. Also, last season Plymouth was one of the cheapest Premier League tracks to get into. I accept there are fuel costs involved if you live in or around Exeter and go to watch speedway at St Boniface Arena, of course. In my humble opinion, the racing there was not bad at all, although the track as it stands is too small. I expected it to be poor racing, but I was pleasantly surprised, and let's be honest, there was more passing there than we used to see on an average Monday at the County Ground ! All of the above does not make me any happier than you, jay3012, about what has now transpired, but it is a fait accompli, and I will still go to Plymouth occasionally in 2013. It will never be the same as supporting my hometown team though.

Just read the article in the E&E which includes the words 'under the Exeter Falcons banner'.
Any further news/comments available?
Maybe those involved would like to issue a full statement on this forum to confirm the details of what has been agreed.

Now that the news is 'official' is there any proposal that us poor beleaguered Falcons fans will have travel put on for a small fee each week - just to test the water?

As I read the article, the words ' under the Exeter Falcons banner ' relate only to a number of ' junior ' level events, possibly as second-half races and/or possibly one or two full meetings. Obviously, nothing is as yet decided. The quote does NOT relate to Premier League racing, which is still Plymouth Devils.
As for coach travel, the article states that this is being looked into very seriously, and with the intention of making the cost as low as possible.
Give the people involved a chance to put the whole package together and, when the details have been announced, then make up your minds whether you are going to support it or not.

It's been very interesting reading the thoughts and feelings of fellow falcons fans, most of the comments mirror my feelings ! I am infact disgusted that any of Colin hill's money (and let's not forget it was Colin hill's money) has been used for anything other than Exeter speedway !
