The Express & Echo today carries a back page article about the change of ownership of Haldon Racecourse. It seems a big company, which owns a number of the big courses such as Newmarket etc, has taken control.
Hopefully, this will not have any negative bearing on the plan to bring speedway to Haldon in 2008 ??

Thought the same myself when I read it this morning.
Hopefully someone will be able to put our minds at rest in some way.

Someone was very quick in responding.
Just received this email from Allen Trump that he has asked me to post. Thanks Allen.
"Could you wish everyone on the forum Season's Greetings from me, thanks.
Re the Exeter Racecourse takeover here is the current position.
I have today had a discussion with Mr Geoffrey Billson, Managing Director of the racecourse regarding the reported takeover by RHT and he has assured me that nothing will change in the relocation of Exeter Speedway to Haldon as a result of the takeover. RHT is committed to maximising income from the racecourse in exactly the same way as the old company was. Mr Billson reiterated the racecourse's continuing support for the opening of the Falcons at Haldon in April 2008. On a personal note I must say that Exeter Racecourse were bitterly disappointed when we were unable to obtain planning for next April and there is no doubt that the revenue from Exeter Speedway is an important factor in their budget. We have an excellent relationship with the Directors and other senior employees at Haldon who are 100% behind us so it's business as usual to get the Falcons flying once again for 2008.
Merry Xmas and a Happy New Year.
Allen

that's a really good item on the bbc site ! it's a shame our local newspaper down here in torquay doesn't have such items so as to keep south devon abreast of the current situation.

Great item on the bbc site - really encouraging to see that the 'new nest' may not be in so much danger as we might have feared. I think we may have 'unearthed' a diamond in Allen Trump. He gives as much cause for optimism as Colin.
