PAUL FRY’S BENEFIT MEETING
SOMERSET SPEEDWAY, FRIDAY 23 MARCH at 7.30pm
Former Exeter Falcons skipper Paul Fry is calling on all his County Ground fans to support his Benefit Meeting at Somerset Speedway’s Oak Tree Arena, this Friday (23 March).
Fry spent five seasons at Exeter where the fans loved his all action style, but his speedway career would now seem to be over following a serious accident last season which left him with a badly fractured leg.
An added attraction for Falcons fans will be a rare westcountry appearance by another former Exeter favourite, 2000 world champion Mark Loram. Loram officially became the fastest man in British speedway when he broke the County Ground track record in 1996, a record which will stand for all time following the demolition of the famous old stadium, and this will be his first ever appearance at the Somerset track.
Fry is delighted that his old team mate has agreed to grace his benefit meeting.
“Mark and I got on well at Exeter and I am really pleased that he will be taking part on Friday. For me it will be the icing on the cake. I greatly enjoyed my time at the County Ground and hope that plenty of Falcons fans will come to cheer Mark. The fast Somerset track should really suit his style of riding. I am also thrilled and very grateful that the new Falcons management, the Exeter supporters club, and director Mike Spearpoint have all offered sponsorship for my meeting”
Loram will start as one of the favourites in the 20 heat individual meeting, the line up for which includes leading Australian Grand Prix rider Leigh Adams, Somerset’s popular Swedish skipper Magnus ‘Zorro’ Zetterstrom, and Danish international Charlie Gjedde.
Lets get up there and support Fryer.
Get there early-entertainment from 6.30 as KayJay mentions-parade at 7.15-first race 7.30 sharp.
