Playoffs. Would our East and South Devon footie fan members on here like to combine and have a lively debate on Exeter 1-2 Torquay first leg result Interesting match-feel a tad sorry for Exeter Goalie. Shall remain impartial-Was great to watch but no motor or dirt deflector involved (Roll on Monday-All not over yet, Squibby think last year first leg mate and how city came back-and breathe-Come on City!!!!!!!!!!)-Oops sorry Winkey

This sort of thing should be banned. Here I was quietly reading my Speedway Star on Thursday evening, and the noise of all those people shouting was terrible, like rolling thunder. Good job I wasn't a shell shocked fireman! I rang Natural England straight away as my cat told me the birds were frightened by the floodlights and the snakes living in the bushes by the railway line were seriously traumised. I am really worried about it will do to all those seagulls on torquay seafront on Monday. As I say this sort of this thing should be done away with, and the stadiums turned into speedway tracks. Seriously folks have fun on Monday.

I was at the game last Thurday evening, of course.
Exeter played the better football, but rarely tested the Gulls' keeper, whilst Torquay understandably were more cautious and relied more on long balls out of defence. Tim Sills' aerial ability saw him put Torquay ahead with their only on-target effort of the first half. City pressed in the second, and were unlucky to have a perfectly good goal chalked off by the ass ( sorry - Assistant Referee ), but then did equalise with 15 to go, and a draw would have been about right.
Mistakes by 'keepers are high-profile, and boy was ours a cock-up ! Surely, well into time added on at the end, Jones should have cleared Row Z of the stand, rather than try to hoof the ball upfield ? Anyway, he didn't, and now City have an uphill battle. Yes, Nevs, I have not forgotten last year's heroics at Oxford and I will be in the pub watching Setanta and hoping for a repeat of those efforts at Plainmoor - couldn't get a ticket for the away leg.
If we go out, then Tony L can have his wish to turn St James Park into a speedway stadium - no arguments from me !

absoluely gutted ! the real turning point wasn't the tactical substitutions by city but the outrageous penalty ! never a penalty in a million years. but now i've had my moan i'll say well done city, if torquay had played the attacking football that we played before xmas instead of the negative defensive boring stuff then maybe we would be the toast of devon instead of city. good luck to the grecians at wembley i sincerely hope you do it because i couldn't handle getting beat by them again next season. looking forward to seeing squibby on the 27th !

I've only just regained my strength after being totally drained at the end of the game today ! What a comeback by City - yep, I tend to agree that the penalty was a tad generous, but it made up for our disallowed ' goal ' last Thursday night ! The Gulls seemed content to sit on their lead at 3-1 on aggregate, and when City got their first goal ( a lovely low shot from young Harley ) all the momentum was suddenly with City, and Torquay struggled to get anywhere after that. I have to say that City played the more attractive football over the two matches, and it was nice to see the team playing the pass and move football triumph over the team employing the long ball tactic most of the time. Commiserations to you, Winkey, and all Gulls fans. Now to win it at Wembley this time............ ;D ;D

i fully agree city were definately the better side, they played good passing football and always looked the more dangerous side. however the disallowed goal only cancelled out the offside given against phillips in the first leg when he was clean through on the keeper when onside ! i don't want to pick on paul buckle too much with wembley on saturday but i hope he's learned a lesson and that he will go back to the attacking game we played before xmas instead of the negative stuff dished up since. anyway thank god we've got the speedway season to keep us sane !
