The Devils home NL meeting against the Stoke Potters had to be abandoned after heat 8 due to lack of medical cover. Devils were leading 29 - 18. Both Henry Atkins and Richard Andrews had two wins from two rides at the time. Falcons rider Adam Sheppard was a guest at reserve, and scored 3 + 1 from four outings. I understand that, sadly, Tim Webster fell whilst leading in his first ride back after a four year gap. The medical officer deemed it necessary for him to go to hospital and an ambulance was requested, but it did not arrive and in the end the MO took Tim to hospital himself, hence no cover and the abandonment. Connor Coles was a guest for Potters and ran two second places in his two outings.
( I got it wrong. The track ambulance had to be used, not the MO's car. Apologies. )

Richard Andrews scored 8 + 1, Henry Atkins 7 + 1 and Adam Sheppard 3 + 1.

The two Exeter-based lads battled really well for the Devils on Friday night 10 August in the home NL meeting against Eastbourne Eagles, but the loss of Ellis Perks in his first outing, along with R/R for Tim Webster, meant the Devils went down 35 - 55.
Perks has a shoulder injury but no news yet as to how long he will be out.
Henry Atkins top-scored with 14 and Richard Andrews scored 12 + 1. A fall in heat 15 was the only downside of Richard's performance. Well done both !
The Falcons' Mick Sutton rode at number 7 for Devils, and had several outings, picking up one point.

The Devils managed one more point away at Eastbourne last night than they did the previous evening at home, losing 36 - 54 in the return NL encounter.
Richard Andrews continued his much more consistent form with an impressive 10 + 1 from 5 rides.
However, without Henry Atkins ( who I am assuming was away doing grasstrack somewhere ) and with only Alex Spooner as a guest for the injured Tim Webster, the Devils were really up against it. Adam Sheppard was also a guest, for the injured Macauley Leek, and failed to score from 4 rides. Spooner managed just 1 + 1 in what was a tough ask in a heat leader slot.
Guest for the injured Ellis Perks, Ben Morley, rattled up 16 points from 6 outings, including four heat wins.

Both Henry Atkins and Richard Andrews were busy during the Devils home NL meeting against leaders Mildenhall Fen Tigers on Friday evening 17 August. Henry scored 8 points from six rides, and Richard 8 + 1 from five outings. Both won one heat each and both suffered an exclusion. Henry was excluded from the first running of heat 15 after he was bumped by teammate Ben Morley on the bottom bend, and could not help the domino effect, which saw him cause Danny Ayres to come off into the fourth bend air fence. Richard fell on his own in heat 3 whilst chasing the two Tigers. Heat 13 was the race of the night, and probably the season. Ben Morley battled with both Danny Ayres and Ryan Kinsley for four superb laps, before pipping Ayres to the flag, with Kinsley a close third. Three wide around the bottom bend, with none giving an inch. Excellent stuff ! Oh - by the way. Devils lost 36 - 54.

The Devils went down 31 - 59 away against Coventry in the NL on Sunday last, in a meeting held at Leicester.
Richard Andrews scored 8 from 5 rides, including two heat wins and one retirement, and Henry Atkins just 4 from six outings, including two retirements.
Adam Sheppard failed to score from five rides.
Ply-off hopes gone now, sadly.

The Devils chances of a play-off spot were totally dashed after they lost 39 - 50 at home to Birmingham Brummies on Friday night.
It was a very entertaining meeting. Henry Atkins top-scored with 12 from 6 rides, including a fall/exclusion in heat 15. Richard Andrews contributed a battling 9 + 2 from five rides.
It was a hectic evening for stand-in reserve Adam Sheppard, who had the full seven outings after Kelsey Dugard withdrew with a knee injury. Dugard fell in both his two rides. Adam was a faller in two rides, finished last in four, and finally scored a point in his last ride. His gating has improved, and he is smoother on the bike now, just needing now to try and develop a bit more speed.
I am sure Adam will be delighted that he has had an extended run in the NL, something he could not have expected. All good racing experience, and his bike stood up well.
